Wedding Dessert Ideas

Dessert is considered a “sweet ending” to your wedding reception. Many brides and grooms are scrambling for the perfect, unique dessert idea. Signature Grand suggests the latest wedding trend: dessert buffets!

How do you go about putting this dessert decadence? The options are almost endless!  If you have a relatively small area for the buffet, put out a collection of beautiful little bite sized treats. Signature Grand recommends:  petit fours, iced sugar cookies (with your monogram!), mini martini glasses filled with treats and clear glass cylinders filled with candies. This is also a great way to present your wedding “goody bag” favors if you tie your favors into the dessert. Candy such as personalized M&M’s, chocolate bars or traditional Jordan almonds will do!

Other couples decide to do the dessert bar in a very big way. If your budget allows, offer treat stations (similar to a dinner buffet) with cupcakes, cookies, pies, etc. Many couples do an ice cream theme with an ice cream bar! Guests can create their own frosty treat! When deciding on your desserts, think about what sweets go well with coffee or champagne, which is what your guests will likely be drinking.

Speaking of drinks, it is a wonderful idea to coordinate a mini bar station next to the dessert station. Serve up fresh cappuccino and espresso, along with regular coffee and decaf. Offer guests liqueurs, such as Bailey’s Irish crème or Kaluha to spice up their drinks. Wine or champagne goes well with anything chocolate covered (marshmallows, strawberries, pretzels, etc!)

Many brides coordinate the dessert buffet with the rest of their wedding, especially if it is in a separate room. Everyone wants their wedding to be memorable and unique. The best way to do this is to end it with on a “sweet” note!

The garter set is a vital part of the wedding reception as it traditionally is thrown to the single men in the audience. The man that catches the garter is said to be the next to be married in the future! Garter sets often come with two pieces – one as a keepsake for the bride and the other (smaller) garter is for the man that catches it.

Garters are usually purchased to match the wedding theme and can be purchased in a variety of colors!

Signature Grand features many articles that help brides and grooms plan their wedding effortlessly. Below is an article by Signature Grand that helps to decide how you want to plan your wedding cake – one of the focal points in a wedding!

When you think of wedding receptions, what is the one thing that they all have? The wedding cake! Dating back to the Roman Empire, this sweet treat also serves as a symbol of your first joint act as a married couple, your commitment to provide for each other, and the sweet life you will share together.

While your wedding cake will be delicious, it is not just a dessert. It is the base of your wedding reception and a ceremony in itself. It should be placed in the center of your reception hall so guests can “OOH and AWWW” over it. A great location would be the center of the dance floor? This way once your cake cutting ceremony is over, the cake and table can be removed so guests can dance the night away. Another great idea is to put your cake (safely) in it’s own designated corner with flowers and lights surrounding it.

If you have your cake picked out, you can start planning your cake table decor. This can be done simply by incorporating a white table cloth, tulle or any other inexpensive fabric. You can also decorate your cake table with a simple white table cloth, scatter some rose petals (or other decor) and your cake table will be elegant and simple.  A length of tulle loosely billowed on the top of the table gives the impression of your cake floating on clouds.

Many couples opt to serve the cake first. I’m sure guests won’t object! Whether you serve your cake at the beginning of the reception or end, it is sure to be a huge hit!
